See Band reformed after 30 years to perform at The Premier
In the early 1970s, Stevie Adamek, Freddie Butterworth and Charlie Morgan formed the See Band, and began working on an album project later to be named "Deputies of the Rainbow".
Some 30+ songs were recorded during a four year span at Sea West Recording. The band was joined by Joe Chemay, now a well know bassist and producer. The band has never played in
the Seattle area live, with one exception. A live broadcast was aired on KZOK, produced from the SeaWest studios and engineered by Rick Keefer. At this time the band consisted of
the Adamek, Butterworth, Morgan and Chemay. All the masters for these recordings have been lost or destroyed, and only a few aging cassettes remain of the original "Deputies" recording and master mixes.
Later, Joe Chemay left the group to travel on his musical career, and Steve Boyce (bass) and Mike Dumas (drums) joined the group. With continuing support, engineering and production
assistance from Rick Keefer, Bicycle was released in 1975 on Scepter Records, hit the Top 40 market with strong promise, and was then immediately pulled from distribution by
Scepter Records when the disco music scene exploded into popularity. The dream ended, and the group disbanded to go about their separate careers.
There were no known complete copies of the live recording aired on KZOK until the week of January 16, 2006, when Larry Dragland left a disc on Charlie Morgan's
desk which contained four cuts from the live broadcast. Charlie has a cassette with two other live cuts on it.
The See Band will play at the Premier Club, February 19th, 2006 for one time only. The band will play 4-6 tunes. This will be the only time the group has ever played live
outside the studio in the Greater Seattle Area. The band will consist of Adamek (guitar), Butterworth (drums), Morgan (guitar), Boyce (bass) and Dumas (drums). It has been 31 years since the group has played together.
Our heartfelt thanks to Larry Dragland for the recordings - Larry you are our hero.
